Our Blue, Black, Splash Showgirl breeding program began with
a single outcross naked neck female. I bred her to two of our Silkie
males (blue and splash) and kept back the best naked neck chicks to
work with going forward. My goal is to use our silkie-line heavily
and get as far away from the initial 'outcross' as possible.

Using a complete outcross can help you get introduce something
you want easily (ie, the naked neck gene), but it will also bring
faults out. How you manage those faults early on will help
determine how successful you are in future generations.
